Cycling through file tabs, the arrow buttons next to the file tabs don't work and cycling through the tabs using CTRL+TAB isn't possible.

Hi there,

Thanks for that powerful yet extremely compact editor!

When trying 2.0 b3 under XPSP2, I noticed that the arrow buttons next to the file tabs don't work here. Also cycling through the tabs using CTRL+TAB isn't possible. Can anybody confirm this?

Confirmed. These buttons don't work at all.

Confirmed. Use Ctrl-F6 instead (default shortcut for MDI windows).

welcome StickyNomad,

thanks for your good words.

Sorry, not confirmed. The arrow buttons do NOT cycle files. They cycle the tabs, if and only if, not all of them fit in the visible area of the tab control. If this is not the behaviour for you, please let me know.

Cycling files is done with Ctrl+F6 as Jupiter pointed out.

Never hesitate to ask, suggest or report anything you think wil improve HiEditor.

They should, if you ask me. I had the same impression as StickyNomad when starting the editor and wondered why the buttons had no effect at all. Why limit the functionality to a situation when the screen is filled with tabs only when they could be useful all the time?

I cast my vote for Ctrl+Tab as an at least additional shortcut. Ctrl+F6 is everything else but comfortable. You either need a big hand even then you have to use your thumb instead of the fingers available in the natural typing position or you have to use both hands.

Edit: By the way, some related enhancements:
Ctrl+W should close a tab (no confirmation).
Ctrl+Shift+W should close all tabs (after confirmation).
Ctrl+T should open a new tab.

All these shortcuts are accessible with the left hand only and are standard in many tab-equipped applications.

Thanks for a very nice editor, it has been featured yesterday in one of Germany's finest freeware boards:

well, I see that Tab arrows are useful only when many tabs are open, but:
It's very nice to have these buttons work all-the-time.

agree with Icfu about shortcuts like in all apps using tabs (Firefox, Total Commander etc)
