Code to download file

I am looking to write a program that will download files without using a browser.

using a url link.

I search the APIs but could not find anything.

You can definitely download a file using wininet, it is a bit of a pain but can be done. An alternative is a great library called - cURL It is easy to use, and supports TONS of protocols.

Thanks. I looked at the site.

I have never been sucessful compiling c code.

I think C is closest to assembly and I can usually convert c to asm.

I tried Pelles but there was always something it could not find even for real simple c code.

Any suggestions.

Why do you need to compile the source??? It is open source for sure, but you don't need the source unless you want to enable certain things or modify the library for a certain need like removing options you do not need to make the library smaller.

Just goto the Download page and download the binary that you need, read the docs and make the calls to the API just as you would the Win32 APIs.
