HiEditor search window, two Find buttons next to/right of the "Find what" input box and the Replace buttons next to the Replace box.

Hello again,

I have found that when I use the search window I have been hitting the "Replace All" several times unwillingly. This is because - for me - the layout of the Find and Replace window is not intuitive.
I think that the order should be such as having the two Find buttons next to/right of the "Find what" input box and the Replace buttons next to the Replace box.
My intuitive placement would be (from top to bottom). Find (F3), Find All, Replace (F4) and Replace all at the bottom.
What do you think?
As I said I did not think about this until I made several mistakes. But maybe it�s just me?

I disagree. It's important to have the buttons grouped like they are now, so you can easily choose between finding (skipping) and replacing a match, without being forced to move the mouse a long way from top to bottom and vice versa.

I haven't really faced any difficulties with the current layout of the Find & Replace dialog. Any comments from other users, please?

I agree with icfu that the currently used grouping of the buttons should be kept because of the reason he mentioned. But the 'Find/replace All' buttons shouldn't be placed at the very top of this dialog.

So what about this:

Just swap the complete button pairs to the following order:

1. Find (F3)
2. Replace (F4)

3. Find All
4. Replace All

This seems reasonable for me, as Find/Replace one item are kind of default-actions while 'Find All' and 'Replace All' are somwhat 'stronger' or advanced actions.

Swapping would be ok.
